Sustainability is a word that gets used too easily. We try to be specific about what it means to us.

It starts with longevity. The most sustainable product is one you never have to replace. At ELARO, we design for years of use, not seasons. Our materials — vegetable-tanned leather, solid stoneware, natural rope — are chosen because they age well and hold up to daily life with an animal.

We work with suppliers who can tell us exactly where their materials come from. Not because we want to put it on a label, but because we need to know. A hide that comes from a responsibly managed tannery. Ceramic that is fired with renewable energy. Rope that is made without synthetic coatings that shed microplastics.

We also think about the end of a product's life. Can it be repaired? Can it be composted or recycled? We are not perfect at this yet, but it shapes every material decision we make.

We don't believe in offsetting our way to a clean conscience. We believe in making fewer, better things — and standing behind them completely. Every ELARO product comes with a repair and replacement guarantee, because if we've made something well, we should be willing to back it for life.

That is what sustainability means to us. Not a certification. A commitment.
